Jean-Louis Senatus
1949 – present
Senatus was born in Leogane, Haiti. His artistic career started upon enrollment in the Institute Lope De Vega in Port-au-Prince. He was mentored by Rene Exume and Gerald Joliceur, teachers at the Foyer Des Artes Plastiques. His defining influences were formed by his association and guidance under an art professor from New York named Scodilis. The resulting refinement in his style gave us the soft and luminous palette and cherub like figures that proliferate his work.
Senatus currently lives with his family in the village of Port Salut and is exhibited in galleries around the globe.
