Prosper Pièrre-Louis 1947-1997
is a Haitian born in Bainet, near Jacmel.
One of the main contributors of the Saint Soleil art movement.
He was one of the Cinq Soleil (five Suns: Levoy Exil, Louisiane Saint Fleurant, Dieuseul Paul, Denis Smith) art movement. These artists had branched out of the Saint Soleil movement. He died in 1997 of an asthma attack.

Mevs was born in Port-au-Prince and is master of a broad range of media types. His expressions embrace strong graphic symbols while cultivating intimate relations between his cultural upbringing, religion and contemporary ideology. Described by Gerald Alexis regarding his metaphorical references, “Mevs travels to the United States in the 1960’s may explain his preference for the lyrical abstraction.”
Mevs has exhibited in galleries around the world and his use of varied media is appreciated and collected internationally.
